Have you ever had a nap that is just SO cozy? I did, this morning. I got up before dawn to go milk my new nanny goat. She doesn't live here yet and so I had to drive over to her farm. Today was my first day meeting her and the two of us trying each other out. I loved her and she tolerated me. I've milked ewes - not a real fun job, let me tell ya. If I was maybe 2.5 feet tall and a contortionist with little hands, maybe. With a goat, they go on a 'stantion' which puts them up to your comfortable milking height. My new girl is named Dash. She's all white and has two white doe-kids that are coming with her.
Anyway, all that to say, I got up early. When I came home, the sun was up, the sheep were content and I had some time on my hands before I had to get out and on with my day, so I sat down with a book, a wool blanket and leaned the chair waaaaaay back. The window was open and cool pre-autumn air was blowing in. On page 30, my eyes got bleary, so I crawled into bed with one dog, just for a few winks. Soon the other dog joined us (a rarity) and after a while I felt something at my feet. An hour later I woke up feeling SO good. That doesn't happen too often for me, let me tell ya! I have a sleep disorder and I just don't often wake up very spry. This morning, though, the dogs were in just the right spot, the blanket was just the right warmth and the pillow had just the right softness. And I had a few good dreams to boot.
I think everyone had a good sleep because when I got up, most everyone else stayed in bed. In the picture, on the bed, are 2 dogs and 3 kittens. And a heap of blankets. I just brought some in off the wash and was lazy and had a nap before folding...much to the animal's delight.
