A Few Things I'm Working on...

Winter is a great time to putter, rest, and get things done. December was very much my month of sewing, completing about 18 pairs of P.J.'s and my first quilt that was more than just square blocks. Now I've caught the quilting bug. But, I've got a list of things I want to make first. I've been spinning up some fleece from one my sheep to get some yarn for a hat for me. It spins up okay, but it's not as soft of a fleece as I'd wanted. But, I'll keep going. I've wanted a hat for 2 winters now. Here are a few of the P.J.'s:I'm working on a hat out of some alpaca I spun up in the fall and it is turning out good - it's to be a thin-type hat and needs to be extra warm (that's all I can say, because the person it is for may be reading this! *grin*). I'm just winging the pattern and I think it'll work. I hope it will! I have a BIG head, and this person doesn't, so it's hard to know.I just finished up a pair of socks for my Dad for his birthday (a couple weeks ago!). These are my first crocheted socks. They whipped up really fast. They're a bit squarish on the toe, and I'm going to try out another pattern that looks a bit nicer, next. The yarn I used was bought (for shame, I know) - it's a merino extra fine superwash and it was so so nice to work with. And I've been wanting a warm, heavy, denim quilt for years. So, this is the winter it gets done. It'll come in handy this year at sheep camp, too. I'm contemplating making a wool batt for the batting. It may be too warm, then. We'll see. It's just plain old squares from old jeans I've been saving for almost 10 years. I've got a blister from cutting them out! I'm going to intersperse a few squares of nice flannel here and there, as well. And then I'm hoping to back it with some baby corduroy I have had for years. Uh, a wool batt sound rather warm, I'm thinking. So, that's a few things. I'm also working on more P.J.'s and some sweat pants for my brother (surprise, Mike!) and I need to make some curtains, as well. I'm glad I've got a few more months before lambing starts! I'm going to need them.

Heather,
Forgot to comment on this post...got back into quilting and maching appliquing recently. Doing the cutest quilt for a gift. But it takes so much time and oh...do I have time? We are talking mountains of fibre here. Well love to write more but better go to the mountain. Regards and blessings Pam
