Shearing 08

Well, another Shearing is done for another year. This was the best year yet! It was the best because of all of the help I had from all of my favourite kids! What a great bunch of workers I had this year. The oldest was 15 and the youngest was 3 and everybody chipped in and worked hard, played hard and just had a good time. I can't wait until next year! I really really do like Shearing Day, more than any other day of the year. A time to get together with all of my favourite people and do my favourite job. I'm convinced, too, that I have the best shearer there is out there - Dave Carlson. No one is as fast with as good of quality work. Thanks Dave. We sheared and paint branded all in two days. 243 sheep. Not too shabby guys!

Here's my youngest helper hard at work in the wool sack.

And then there was Pokey. All day there was Pokey!

So Many Stompers....

This Stomper takes a well deserved break

This young man carried over 1000lbs of wool up ladders all day long - always with a smile on his face and cheerful conversation. What a worker!

When all was said and done we had a great woolly playground: 13 full sacks, 2 half sacks and 5 potato bags full of wool. Over a tonne of wool. Way to go kids!

It sounds like a great day. It makes me wish I could have been there.
