Spring Time in Alberta

When it's springtime in Alberta,
And the gentle breezes blow
About seventy miles an hour
And it's fifty-two below.
You can tell you're in Alberta
'cause the snow's up to your butt
And you take a breath of springtime air
And your nose holes both freeze shut.
The weather here is wonderful
So I guess I'll hang around
I could never leave Alberta
My feet are frozen to the ground!

That is just crazy! I'm going to go plant something in my garden and warm up after looking at that picture, lol. It is supposed to be 70 today.

Our house is cool today anyway, and that photo and poem just sent me over the top. Off to build a fire in my woodstove . . . BRRR! (How DO your little lambsicles survive?)

...haha! Funny poem...wow! I was complaining about 19 degrees the other morning--I guess I'll just hush up now! I love your site and all the sheep. I just finished reading Beatrix Potter's biography, and she was all about sheep! Her second life (after Peter Rabbit and the other children's books) was about preserving sheep farming. So I had sheep on the brain and then seeing yours was so nice.

Hi Heather! So funny! Hope the sheep are safe... do they blend in with the snow?

Ha! Of course, I'm not trying to compete but I remember the day we left our home in Newfoundland, it was late May and it was snowing when we crossed on the ferry. I also remember, I cried all the way to Ontario...obviously snow in May was agreeable with me. That was when I was young and adventurous...like you! Some years earlier, on June 11, I remember we had snow. Our neighbour sited a yard of robins the other day. I really still miss Newfoundland but robins in March is good! Blessings.

i hear you, fellow albertie, and on the first day of spring i can still feel the cold of winter in the wind that brings the snowstorm over this way...

at least it's lighter?
