A face only a mother can love....

Isn't she beautiful? I call her Lucy. Lucy Diamond - like Sam called his daughter in the movie, "I am Sam". I love her morning "chirp" at 150 decibels. She is so curious and talkative. And protective. If I am wearing something really different - like a face mask, or helmet, or dragging in a bag of feed, or whatever, she'll puff up like a Tom would. She is a Broad Breasted Bronze Turkey - although other hatcheries give them other names, too. They are the tame equivalent to a wild turkey - just heavier. Too heavy, actually, in that they can't breed naturally. The Tom squishes the poor hen flat to the ground and no 'action' can occur that way. More genetically modified products. Gotta keep the customer satisfied. Don't even get me started on the poor chickens that are raised for meat - they grow so fast and so big that their legs bend and if you don't butcher them early enough, they die of heart attacks or water on the heart. And we wonder why society is sicker and our kids have the weirdest allergies..... Whoa. Another day. For today, I just wanted to show off my Lucy. I have her picture blown up full on my wallpaper for my PC. Try it - click on her picture and see how great she looks on a full screen. Is it just me? Her head feels like soft rubber with bits of velvet on it. Looks like it too, eh? I wish she'd let me snuggle with her, but she always stays about 6" away. Close enough to be first at the feed, or to see whatever it is I'm doing, but definitely not close enough to pet without a bit of coercion.
Did you know that Benjamin Franklin wanted the Wild Turkey to be the national bird of America? Hehe, it'd be comparable to our lovely national animal.... the beaver. How goofy. I love my Lucy, but the Eagle is just a bit more majestic, lol.

She does have a lovely eye, and pretty colors on her head!

I think she is pretty. But then we have the same turkeys at our place.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and only skin deep. She is a wonder of God and just as beautiful

Best wishes,

Annie

It's amazing the details I notice when I view the picture on my whole screen! Um, I think I'll keep my current wallpaper though. LOL!

Stay warm, Heather!
